With renowned producer Plutonic Lab swapping the switches for the skins and supplying the beats for Muph to play verbal wordsmith, this party starting one, two punch will deliver a set to remember.

Here’s another local Bluesfest fan favourite! Bound to get the party started are Brisbane’s Resin Dogs, a loose collective of talented musicians and DJs who take an inspiring and original cut and paste approach to music. Mixing live music, turntables and guest MCs, Resin Dogs produce a mash up of sounds; modern hip hop is drenched with breakbeat, dance hall, dub and funk. In the revolutionary spirit of hip hop they have created their own style. Never sticking to one genre, the Resin Dogs, first founded in 1996, consist of DJ Katch, Dennis Kudelka, Jonothan Bolt and Tony McCall, with regular guest appearances in Australia by Hau Latukefu (aka Hau) (Koolism), N’Fa Forster-Jones (aka Nfamas) (1200 Techniques) and on their overseas touring they appear with Abstract Rude (ATU)(US), Mystro (Natural Born Spitter)(UK), and BluRum13 (Canada). Packing out venues from the start of their career, the Resin Dogs energetic live shows which feature additional percussionists, breakdancers, and visual artists have been in demand from the word go. Forming the record label Hydrofunk as a way of getting their music out to people, Dave Atkins and DJ Katch traveled to London to get several hundred records pressed for sale at their already crowded live shows. The reaction to their sounds in London reassured the Brisbane band that they were doing something very original. The first album, August 2000′s Grand Theft Audio became a mainstream Australian chart entry. Their second album Hi Fidelity Dirt was released in 2003 and saw Resin Dogs build on collaborative efforts of the past couple years with guesting MCs including LA’s The Pharcyde (Shut Yo Mouth)and UK’s Spikey Tee (Adore You). Critical acclaim for Resin Dogs culminated when they scooped the Australian Dance Music Awards in three consecutive years – Best Hip Hop Act in 2001 and Best Live Act in 2002 and 2003.
